The Winter Training Group (Winter TG) program is designed to take the place of indoor club for our year round athletes. It runs from January through March and provides players with a focused, high level team experience through the winter months. Our winter groups are an excellent way for players to continue to develop beach game during the off season. The winter season is also used as player evaluation for our biggest and most special season, the Summer Training Group season.




The Winter TG season is an awesome season. It is the kickoff to a new year, and a fresh start for training. It offers both practices and tournaments, and allow players to choose what events their group will play. The season runs during three months: January, February and March. Winter TG season ends just as the spring and summer season is about to really get going, so it allows players a brief "off season" before the next training group season. Our Winter TG season prepares players for summer by starting to practice and compete in January, and to build all year towards summer. The benefits of starting in January include figuring out partnerships, signing up for and/or planning summer tournaments, and the opportunity for extended practice before summer.


Participation in the program is open to all club members, however creating groups and deciding what type of training each individual will be engaging in is no easy task. For that reason, we ask players to attend Club Trainings in October and attend tryouts.

All players wanting to play in our Winter TG season need to participate in the Tryouts and attend Club Trainings in October. It is very helpful for coaches and players to get to know each other ahead of the actual tryout day so we can best evaluate and create groups.

Training Groups (Junior High and High School)


We established the first Training Groups program in the Bay Area summer of 2013. Since then, we've continued to innovate and excel at providing the best training to our athletes using this model. Our Training Groups program has produced more NCAA DI beach volleyball athletes than any other program in northern California.


Training Groups are the equivalent to a beach "team". In creating training groups, we are assembling groups of similarly skilled and like minded players to train together. Often times, Training Groups represent a higher level of play and experience, but can also be offered at beginning skill levels.


Training Groups provide a platform and environment for advanced skill and game play development. Players and coaches are able to work closely with one another to develop, plan, and achieve goals. All aspects of beach volleyball are addressed by the coaches, and we go beyond teaching just the skills. Given beach volleyball is a player driven sport- during gameplay coaches often have little input, players must find and retain partners, players self manage their schedules and tournaments- we prepare our athletes to be self sufficient and confident in their abilities as a player, manager and communicator.


A huge aspect of the success of our training group program is our coaching staff. The training group program has the best beach volleyball coaches available in the area, and players get the opportunity to work closely with them in a focused and fun environment.
