  • The Winter Training Group (Winter TG) program is designed to take the place of indoor club for our year round  beach athletes.

  • The season runs three months: January, February and March.

  • Provides players with a focused, high level team experience through the winter months.

  • The kickoff to a new year, and a fresh start for training. It offers both practices and tournaments.

  • Focused around traveling to socal for three tournaments, one each month.

  • 1 to 6 coach to player ratio. One coach trains and focuses on six players, and travels with them to the socal tournaments to coach them.

  • Option to sign up individually, or as a group. Since this program is focused on tournament preparation and play, signing up with a group of players you want to play tournaments with is very helpful and beneficial.

Overview

The Winter Training Group (Winter TG) program is an awesome season. It is the kickoff to a new year, and a fresh start for training. It is designed to take the place of indoor club for our year round athletes. It offers both practices and tournaments, and includes traveling to socal to play. The season provides  players with a focused, high level team experience for three months: January, February and March. Winter TG season ends just as the spring and summer season is about to really get going, so it allows players a brief "off season" before the next training group season. Our Winter TG season prepares players for summer by starting to practice and compete in January, and to build all year towards summer. The benefits of starting in January include figuring out partnerships, signing up for and/or planning summer tournaments, and the opportunity for extended practice before summer.

Grouping Process- Communication and Tryouts

Please complete the following steps! Biggest change from the previous season is players can sign up together in groups 2-6, or as an individual.

  1. Complete Winter Pre Season Form as soon as you know you are interested

  2. Communicate with coaches/staff (if needed) leading up to tryouts.

  3. Register for and attend tryouts.

Tryout Schedule and Registration

  • November 13, 9am-12pm

Individual Sign Up

All players interested in our Winter TG season will participate in tryouts. For players signing up as an individual, it is very important to attend tryouts, this is where we will connect with other players to train with and form a group for you.

Group Sign Up (2-6 players)

You can sign up with other players, and choose your training partners. All players interested in our Winter TG season will participate in tryouts, even if you are signing up as a group of six. For players signing up as less than six, we will use tryouts to match you up with others to train with.

Communication

Communication is a very important part of the process. It is great to start the process early. Given the small groups, the earlier we have groups set, the more influence and input the players can have on which tournaments we play, and to help make decisions about the group.

More About The Training Group Program

Training Groups (Junior High and High School)

We established the first Training Groups program in the Bay Area summer of 2013. Since then, we've continued to innovate and excel at providing the best training to our athletes using this model. Our Training Groups program has produced more NCAA DI beach volleyball athletes than any other program in northern California.

Training Groups are the equivalent to a beach "team". In creating training groups, we are assembling groups of similarly skilled and like minded players to train together. Often times, Training Groups represent a higher level of play and experience, but can also be offered at beginning skill levels.

Training Groups provide a platform and environment for advanced skill and game play development. Players and coaches are able to work closely with one another to develop, plan, and achieve goals. All aspects of beach volleyball are addressed by the coaches, and we go beyond teaching just the skills. Given beach volleyball is a player driven sport- during gameplay coaches often have little input, players must find and retain partners, players self manage their schedules and tournaments- we prepare our athletes to be self sufficient and confident in their abilities as a player, manager and communicator.

A huge aspect of the success of our training group program is our coaching staff. The training group program has the best beach volleyball coaches available in the area, and players get the opportunity to work closely with them in a focused and fun environment.
